Orli

She came, she ate, she left.  Yes, it must be Doda Orli!

(Just kidding about the eating part!  She didn’t eat much at all! And she brought me a present! Come back again soon! With more presents!)

It’s raining Grandmas, hallelujah!

We barely got used to not having Savta Hadasa around anymore, and here comes Savta Zofia! Grandmas FTW !  Now if only she knew how to cook :-)

Daddy got a new camera (Canon SLR) so he is happy too.  And Dan is also happy, for reasons unknown. Or maybe just because.  Anyhow, he is a fat happy baby… 11 pounds 10 ounces at last checkup, probably closer to 12 pounds by now since he’s growing at almost 2 ounces a day.

Daddy’s braggy “see-my-new-camera” pics:

As always, the pics link to bigger versions.  The full album (with more pictures) is here.

Merry XMas from Boston! (NOT)

Well actually this is just Boston weather visiting Seattle.  Snow, snow and more snow. We’ve been snowed in for a whole week already. During that time I’ve learned more than I every thought there was to know about snow…

First, Daddy taught me how to make a snowman. Start by finding some round snow:

Then make a pile of it, and put some more round snow on top:

Add some sticks for arms:

Shape it a little to look less like a snow cow and more like a snow man:

Add two eyes and a smiley, and you have a snowman!

Next, Daddy took me sledding.  Daddy claims it’s hard work, but I can’t see why – I just sat there the whole time, no problem!

And here it is on video:

And how is the little dude, you ask? Well he is doing just fine.  He weighs just over 10 pounds (4.560Kg for the normal people out there). He does great imitations of a potted plant – sitting around and not doing much.  In the meantime I’m playing with his toys :-)

and we have definitive proof that he smiles occasionally:

I’m almost a grown up now!

Easy come, easy go…  One set of diapers (size NB) joined the house, one set of diapers (size 6) is leaving.  That’s right, I’m DIAPERLESS since Wednesday!! Woohoo!

I still use a night diaper but I go ALL DAY with underwear.  On Sunday we spent all day outside with Savta, and I even went to the bathroom with Daddy at the Seattle aquarium.  To celebrate, Daddy let me run for a while with pants on my head. (Don’t ask, long story)

Baby Dan is doing pretty good.  He started noticing me so now we make faces at each other. I think I’m winning.

Lots of pictures of…. ME!

Yeah, I know you all want to see pictures of me, so here they are.  (Dan is booooring – eat, sleep, eat, sleep, pee on mommy/daddy, eat, sleep.)

In other breaking news, I found a lemon-tomato-pear tree in our back yard:

Anyway daddy doesn’t come home until dark and mommy doesn’t let him use the flash, so I don’t have many little brother pictures to put here even if I wanted to. What?  You’ll fly over and lynch daddy if I don’t post any baby Dan pictures? Well, OK, I guess I might have one or two lying around somewhere…

Hey baby, we love you so much we’re gonna cut little pieces off!

Yeah, parents are weird like that. No matter how slow they explained, it still made no sense at all.  Here is me summarizing the event:

I was sure that daddy was just joking around and being silly, but then the doctor showed up…  Daddy even filmed it (who posts evidence of such horrendous crimes on the internets?), here is the moment of truth:

(NOTE: DON’T CLICK THIS IF WATCHING A PENIS BEING SNIPPED WILL FREAK YOU OUT.)

But all’s well that ends well, apparently the doctor didn’t cut too much or too little, and by now Dan has forgotten all about it.  In fact, he is probaby better off than you, since you have likely been scarred for life by watching the above video.  Have a nice day!

Getting used to the 4th wheel

Well, things are beginning to settle into a routine. Actually, several routines:

Mommy: Sleep, feed the baby, feed the baby, sleep, feed the baby, feed the baby.

Daddy: Take me to school, ??, pick me up from school, play with me all day, put me to bed.

Army of Savta: Take care of Dan all night, take care of Dan all day, make breakfast, make lunch for me to take to school, wash the dishes, clean the kitchen, clean the house, do everyone’s laundry, cook lunch & dinner, serve lunch & dinner, play with me, fold the laundry, bathe the baby, bathe me, make mommy tea, change everyone’s diapers, wash & sterilize baby bottles, give baby care advice, read me a goodnight story.  (Either I’ve forgotten to include sleep, or she’s forgotten to sleep… not sure which)

Oh, and Dan says hi.  Here’s what he looks like now (at the venerable age of 6 days):

bathtime on Day 6 bathtime on Day 6

His bellybutton plug thingy fell off today.  It is good that he is practicing losing body parts because tomorrow he’ll lose something much more significant. Just thinking about it makes me happy to be a girl!.

WOW!

Hey y’all, guess what?

I’M A BIG SISTER NOW!

After months and months of waiting my parents finally took out my little brother Dan, which of course makes me a BIG SISTER.  Woohoo!

Apparently mom hadn’t been taking good care of him, because when he came out he was all dirty & smelly:

Age: 5 seconds

However after a quick clean-up he looked cute as a pink cotton candy ice cream bunny with whipped cream on top:

Age: 5 minutes

Mommy had to rest for a few days because apparently having a baby is very tiring. I visited mommy in the hospital and played with my baby brother a little.

He was soooo tiny but really cute!  He doesn’t cry much and makes lots of funny faces.

Age: 2 days

After a few days mommy came home from the hospital and the baby came too! Mommy lets me help take care of Dan, which so far is pretty fun.

I like my new baby alot!  I also like pizza, ice cream, and daddy’s slippers.

This post was slightly delayed since my IT support staff, secretary, typist and video editor were all stuck in the hospital for a few days.  The videos even now aren’t ready yet!  For now, here are some more pictures pretending to be a video:

Not long now....

Hmm....
New baby furniture all over. A tiny carseat right next to mine in the back of mommy's car.  lots of family visiting.  Should I be worried?

Here’s a pile of stuff which never made it onto my blog…  But better late than never!

None of my pictures came out well, which of course makes the entire visit a non-event and explains why Daddy never got around to posting these…

And here are pictures from my 2nd birthday party (from the last week of June, only 2 months late):

And one ‘lost’ video of me puzzling with two hands, from waaaaay back in July:

A long weekend with ducks, parks and the stegosaurus

We had a long weekend to play at the park and feed ducks, but the highlight was definitely when we finally got to to meet someone I’ve been hearing about for a long time – the stegosaurus.  To be honest I was beginning to wonder whether it was real (like elmo) or just another children’s story (like daddy’s work).

At the park, with daddy & roundish mommy:

Happy Birthday Everyone

Happy Birthday Mommy!  Happy Birthday to me too!  I’m 10 you know (in binary) which is an awesome age.  So, what am I been doing now that I’m twice as old and smart as last week?

I’ve been talking more, learning how to wrap mommy & daddy around my finger (even more than usual) by using “please” alot…  as in “Daddy, please give me a cookie” or “Daddy please push me higher”.

In fact, Daddy has been keeping track of our conversations lately (no doubt to embarrass me with them when I grow up). His favorites so far are:

(At Lunch)
Daddy: Can I have some of your chicken?
Me: This is mine. My chicken.
Daddy: Yes, but can I have some?
Me: Daddy, walk away. Just walk away.

(Taking a bath)
Me: Daddy, take the towel out of your mouth. Its not food.
Daddy: ...
Me: Daddy, take the towel off your neck, its not a necklace!

(In the car)
Daddy: Do you want to stop at a garage sale?
Me: No.
Daddy: Maybe we can find a new hat for you...
Me: Daddy I have a hat at home already

Me: Tomorrow we can wake up and clean mommy's car.

Me: Wow, a motorcycle. Fast...  Cmon, cmon, catch it!

(Going to bed)
Me: Daddy, lie down. I'm going to get you water. Be right back.

What else have I been doing?  Learning to use the big swings,

riding horses,

Perfecting my bottle cap & pouring skills,

I’ve also been having good luck with random people.  A nice lady at the supermarket gave me a bracelet

and a professional photographer whom I met at the beach took some great pictures, such as this one:

Being two is awesome!

Long Weekends are Awesome

First, we had a birthday party for daddy which included a big Lag-BaOmer bonfire.  Marshmellows, yummy!

Then we went to a park and paddled around in a boat on a lake with ducks and fish and people and a swing and a slide and some sand toys with watermelon and lots of cereal but I didn't get a sugar high at all not even a little bit or at leastnothingthatmommyordaddynoticed. yeeeeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,

And today I spent the day in a different park with mommy,  and at dinner I told daddy all about it.

I'm growing up a bit every day, this week I learned how to go to sleep all by myself in my new big girl bed.  Elmo is still learning so sometimes I have to hold his hand until he falls asleep...

So, this is spring?

If daddy is dressing me up in dresses then it must be spring... although it's just as rainy and cloudy as ever, so how does he know.  Maybe he read it on the comp-yooooooooo-ter.

Wow, the winter went by really fast - I barely had time to update the blog at all!  Well, better late than never,  here's a quick recap of what I've been doing in the past months:

  • Eating
  • Breathing
  • Visiting Israel, twice.
  • Changing diapers
  • Talking more (& more & more)
  • Starting school
  • Wearing sunglasses
  • Learning how to cook, wash dishes and do laundry
  • Dancing

And here are some videos:

First one - its a bit hard to describe since I don't quite understand it myself, the good news is that my head didn't get stepped on. much.

That video is from a few weeks ago.  I've gotten a haircut since, and my dancing skills have improved considerably:

Here's a skill which I'll apparently never ever need again since winter is ending soon:

And lets balance that with a skill which I'll probably need for a while longer:

And, of course, no blog update would be complete without going into more detail about my hobby and 1st love - food.   Since I can't eat all the time (who came up with that rule anyway?), while I'm not eating I like to pretend I'm eating. Of course, after a whole day of pretend eating, there is lots of toy food on the floor...

And, lastly, this is how I like my chicken soup.  Write it down and memorize, I expect all my soups from here on to eternity to follow these exacting specifications!

That's it for now, I don't want to overload the internet or anything. Bye till next time!
